About Me

Pam's Insurance Site

When I bought my first house, I was already going into a lot of debt. I didn't have the money to seriously insure it, so I bought only the bare minimum without consulting an insurance professional. That was a big mistake on my part. It could have turned out alright. That is, if my house hadn't been in the path of a huge storm. Huge gale winds knocked a tree down straight through my roof. My house was practically destroyed, and my minimal policy didn't cover nearly enough. I spent years and years trying to get myself out of that financial mess. Since then, I have always been very cautious in learning about insurance and talking to the real professionals.

Tips for Reducing Your Motorcycle Insurance Payments

If you own a motorcycle or you are thinking about purchasing one, you may be interested in learning how you can save some money on the cost of the insurance for it. To help with this, you will want to read through the following tips and considering using some or all of them in order to save as much money as possible.

Purchase a Seasonal Policy

If you happen to live in a region that has a time of the year when riding a motorcycle is not optimal or safe, such as during the winter when there is snow and ice, you will want to consider purchasing a seasonal insurance policy. After all, you will not be riding the motorcycle all year round, so you do not technically need for it to be insurance for the road every month out of the year. Find an insurance company that offers this type of motorcycle insurance so you will only be paying for the months you can actually take your bike out on the road.

Take a Driver's Safety Course

There are some insurance companies that will offer discounted rates if you are able to successfully complete a motorcycle driver safety course. This course will teach you a lot about personal safety, how to drive in various road conditions, and the best way to react to other drivers who are not as safe as you. You will want to speak with your insurance agent to confirm that they are able to give a discount for the successful completion of this course and the type of proof you will need to present to them once it is done.

Store Your Motorcycle in the Garage When Not in Use

It is important to make sure that you are protecting your motorcycle from the harsh weather elements and from theft and vandalism. To do this, you will want to try to keep your motorcycle in the garage when it is not in use. If you do not have a regular garage, you can talk with your insurance agent to see if keeping it in a large shed with a locked door can be just as good when it comes to getting a proper storage discount.

Talk with a motorcycle insurance agent, such as Ahlquist Insurance, to see if there is anything else you can do in order to get the best possible rates for your coverage. The more discounts you can take advantage of, the better off you will be.
